O soul, are you weary and troubled?
No light in the darkness you see?
There’s light for a look at the Savior,
And life more abundant and free!
  • Refrain:
    Turn your eyes upon Jesus,
Look full in His wonderful face,
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,
In the light of His glory and grace.

I've been a bit weary lately. Sometimes life just seems...well, hard. I'm ok with hard but sometimes hard begins to wear on me. Spring is coming in a hurry and I'm just not ready.

The coop I purchased for my chickens is adorable and perfect... for two hens. I was hoping to move home six.

The bees are coming soon and I haven't studied my books. I feel inadequate and ill-prepared. What if I fail? What if I kill my bees?

The garden? It is a mess and I want to "re-decorate".....but when? My seeds? Yeah, I don't even think half of them sprouted.

Oh, and the playroom that I started a YEAR ago? The walls are finally painted but I still need to paint the trim.

Let's not even talk about taxes...or laundry.

I'm tired and discouraged. But when I start to throw my hands up and shout, "I CAN'T DO IT ALONE!", I remember that I am far from alone. I have a Savior who rescues me from the pit of despair. I remember that everything I do should glorify HIM. I need to turn my eyes "upon Jesus" and all the "things of the earth", all these projects that I want done, will dim. Those things will eventually get done....or they won't and that's ok.

Press on, oh weary traveler.

Psalm 18:32 It is God who arms me with strength, and makes my way perfect.

Psalm 27:14 Wait on the Lord; be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart.

  1. Ah... you sound like me!

There are so many want-to-do's and have-to-do's and should-do's and don't-know-what-to-do's.

I have to stop and ask "What does God want me to do?"

Find my answer and then let go of all the rest. This I need to do daily, and I can and you can, only by His grace :)

  2. By His Grace......yes! :)

I had read, some time ago, a suggestion of taking my appointment book (or today's to-do's) to my morning prayer time. Praying over the day's schedule and then giving it to God...and being prepared for HIS changes to occur throughout the day. A practice that I need to be more diligent about. :) Giving EVERY day and every moment to Him!

stripped bare

It's Friday which means it's time to dance and sing (the daycare kids and I have a song and dance to celebrate this glorious day). Friday is also the day in which Lisa-Jo hosts Five Minute Fridays and I humbly join the party of words strung together in five short minutes by a group of fantastic writers. The rules are simple. Lisa-Jo provides the word, write for five minutes flat, no backtracking/editing/over thinking, share your link at Lisa-Jo's, and share the love by reading what others have written. It's great fun and so inspiring. Won't you join us? I promise, you will be blessed! Today's word ~ BARE Lord, I want to be stripped bare.            Strip me of myself so there is more room for you. Strip me of my foolishness, my stubbornness, my selfishness.    Do nothing from  selfish ambition or  conceit, but in  humility count others more significant than yourselves  Phil. 2:3 And to man He s...

Stay-cation: Fun Things to Do Around Rochester, MN

Family vacations are expensive. Gas, lodging, meals...oh, and then there is the admission cost to all the cool things that you want to see. Vacations cost more than a small fortune. Now figure in the loss of income (some of us don't get paid vacations) and you've "broke the bank". Enter the stay-cation. Gas costs are reduced. Lodging is covered. Meals, although still necessary, can be made at home and packed in a cooler. This summer, instead of taking a week off, I am taking a couple long weekends. One weekend we will be traveling "Up North" to visit my husband's college buddy. Otherwise we're keeping our exploring near to home. Another benefit to a stay-cation is a little extra time for home projects. I can keep up with the laundry, instead of having a week's worth of laundry to do when I return home. Isn't that the worst part of vacation - the accumulation of dirty clothes you have to wash after being away from home all week? Gardening ca...

My "Word" for 2012

A friend posted on Facebook yesterday, "What's your word for 2012?" I love this. What one word would signify what I want to accomplish or see in the upcoming year? Oh, so many words came flooding to my mind. Yet this morning as I think of the goals that I started to create for myself during the weeks leading up to my  mid-life crisis , err, I mean birthday...the one word that summarizes it all is LESS. Less body fat, less exhaustion, less stress, less debt, less clutter, less wasted time which all leads to more. I know, less is kind of a boring word. It's not happiness or peace or any other "pretty" word. My word could be MORE or ABUNDANT (now that's a good word!) but then my focus would be on the end product. I want my focus to be on the journey. Less is the means to more. What's your word for 2012?
