Furniture Polish

2 T. beeswax (I use beeswax pellets as it melts easily and quickly)7 T. olive oil~Melt in a double boiler (I don't have a double boiler so I use a stainless steel bowl that fits perfectly on one of my pots)
~Stir well. I was going to bring out my hand blender but found that a wire whisk did the job just fine. The polish will harden after an hour or two.

I have several notebooks around the house filled with Bible verses, blog ideas and recipes. Unfortunately it takes me hours (this may be an exaggeration... or maybe not) of first finding my many notebooks (I have many "hiding" places) and then paging through the notebooks. So I've learned a trick to remembering the recipes that I try - WRITE THE RECIPE ON THE LID/CONTAINER! Yeah, I'm a genius.

Rest

It's FRIDAY! Time to sing and dance. Also time to join Lisa-Jo for Five Minute Friday. It's a fun party as many gather to write about one word. I always love to read the different views that people can bring to just one word. Our prompt word today is REST.

In Matthew 11:28-30, Jesus speaks these words to the crowds:

"Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest."

Oh, we all know tired. The tired all the way to our weary feet. The tired that finds us asleep the moment our heads hit the pillow. I've always found the previous verse comforting, knowing that He will give me rest. The rest on the weekends found in a Sunday afternoon nap which will rejuvenate me for the week ahead. I've know this verse well but I'd never bothered to read the following..........

"Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls."
Two important things here. LEARN FROM ME and REST …

Safer All-Purpose Cleaner

When I began this blog two years ago, one of my goals was to share recipes and tips that were: Environmentally friendlyBetter for the health of me and my family (and those in my daily care)FrugalOver the years I've done a fairly good job of ridding my home of products that are filled with harmful (for both the environment and my family) chemicals. But sometimes I let my guard down and those things that were formally banned from my home make their way through my door.

Last summer my daughter was in a car accident which meant that I stayed in the hospital with her during her three weeks of care. The day before we returned home, my sweet husband {although I don't approve of his cleaning supplies, I am so thankful for his thoughtfulness!} went to the store to buy cleaners so that he could do a quick clean up of the house for us. He didn't have a clue on how to use my homemade cleaners (besides he isn't quite on this bandwagon with me). So we "acquired"  bottles of …

Mysterious Eye Rash

Three weeks ago I developed a mysterious rash on my upper eye lid. Nothing had changed in my "beauty regime" (this makes me laugh as I don't wear make up or have a long list of products that I use!). I wash my hair with a diluted liquid castile soap and I use a natural face moisturizer  Yep, that's it. See why I laughed at "beauty regime"? I hadn't changed laundry detergent.

The only change in my routine was my diet. I had eliminated coffee, carbs and sugar. I was also taking Maximized Living's Daily Detox. I naturally came to the conclusion that the rash could be a result of toxins leaving my body. I began to search for evidence to support this notion. Although I found a few articles that supported this, most were vague and flimsy in their support. This article from Livestrong was the best I found but it gave me no solution for my problem.

I started eating parsley and making detox tea in hopes to speed up the detox process and thus heal my skin howe…
